Hampton Inn Dade City - Zephyrhills

The only downside was the noise from the room above us. It sounded like a herd of elephants, though I suppose extra sound insulation in the floor might help. Otherwise, we had a very clean room, a good breakfast, and friendly staff. Hampton Inn used to be my automatic choice, but lately the stays have been hit and miss. This Dade City Hampton was great, and I can't tell whether the room had recently been renovated or was simply being kept in really good shape. I'll definitely stay here again.

The location is handy, with restaurants nearby and plenty of parking, but I won't stay here again. We got back from a festival after midnight and didn't reach the hotel until nearly 1 a.m. I wanted to sleep after that, but housekeeping knocked at 8:15 and woke us. Checkout wasn't until 11. Then, at 9:27, someone knocked again while we were eating breakfast in the room. We called out that we were still there, but they turned the key anyway. The deadbolt stopped them getting in. Come on. We left our food and walked out, with no sleep and our appetites ruined.

The problems were worse this year, and nobody offered help with our luggage down the stairs or showed much care about what was going wrong. The elevator began acting up Saturday, worked on and off Sunday, then was completely broken by Monday morning. Ice machines weren't working on a couple of floors, and the garbage by the elevators sat full for three days without being changed. We spent a lot to stay here, and this was very poor quality from a Hilton Hotel. We bring four or five other couples for this event, but we'll look at other hotels for 2026. Bug Jam participants should be aware of these issues before booking. We've stayed here three years in a row for an event at the Pasco County Fairgrounds. In 2024, after a couple of hurricanes had come through the area, we understood that things might not be perfect. The elevator was out our whole stay, and the ice machine and washing machine were down too. They were major inconveniences, but easier to accept given the recent storms. At least staff offered to help carry our luggage up and down the stairs. I was due to have hip surgery in a couple of weeks. We came back in 2025 despite those problems, and were on the third floor.

The noise from the hallway went on until nearly 6 a.m. A family kept going back and forth, shouting and making a lot of noise. My dog isn't usually a barker, but he reacts when something really disrupts his surroundings, as any protective dog might. The next morning, instead of dealing with the people who had kept everyone up, staff singled me out and scolded me like a child over my dog's barking. They even complained about the possibility of other guests leaving bad reviews. I seriously doubt the noisy family got the same treatment. I chose this place through a site for pet-friendly accommodations, but I felt unwelcome from the start. Staff were rude and dismissive at check-in, and gave me no information about where I could walk my dog or which areas were meant for dog care. It felt like having him there was a burden. Staff kept giving us judgmental looks and making audible comments about the fact that I had a dog. The hotel wasn't particularly clean, the so-called hot breakfast was cold and poorly prepared, and the staff were consistently unfriendly and unprofessional. The pet-friendly designation felt completely false, and I felt penalized for using a service the hotel supposedly offers. After a very disappointing one-night stay, I won't come back or recommend it to pet owners, family, or anyone.
