The indoor pool and hot tub were a welcome way to unwind after driving, and breakfast was included for a quick start in the morning. Our room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, microwave, and refrigerator. Wi-Fi worked well too. The hotel was comfortable and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in easy. Days Inn in Dalhart is a convenient, affordable choice when passing through. I’d stay here again and recommend it.

We left after only about 90 minutes and asked for our money back, but the owner now refuses, saying we left trash in the bin. When we reached a new hotel just .3 miles away, its room phone worked, which makes the owner’s claim that the phone lines were down seem untrue. Local staff weren’t surprised when we told them what happened. Avoid this Days Inn, even if every other room in town is booked. We had called at 9 pm to check for availability and were told there were rooms. When we arrived, we booked for two adults, one child, and two dogs. The room charge also included an extra $30 for the dogs. We just needed to sleep, shower, and leave early. After locking and chaining the door, we fell asleep around 11. At about 2 am, a man slammed the door open and startled us awake. The chain kept him from walking right in, and our dogs ran toward the door. I called the front desk, but got a message saying calls were being screened and mine wasn’t accepted. I went there and told the worker someone had tried to enter. She apologized and took responsibility, saying she hadn’t known the room was occupied, had booked it for someone else, and given him a key. I said I understood, but we’d come to sleep and were now scared and wide awake, so I asked for a refund. She agreed. None of us could sleep again; we tried to rest, showered, and left around 7. Afterward, our card showed charges on both 5/29 and 5/30, with no refund. When I called, the front desk man said there was no record of our stay. My bank statement and the fact we got no rest say otherwise. The hotel shouldn’t have been taking guests while the whole place was under construction. Rooms other than ours were being worked on, with materials in the hall, power tools running, and music playing. At 7 pm, I’d asked when construction would stop and was told 7:30. At 8, the hammering on the wall behind our heads was unbearable. When I went back to the desk, the same worker said she didn’t know when it would end. We packed up and returned the key without even getting a simple apology.

We’ve stayed here twice as a halfway stop, and both times the rooms were very clean. The desk staff were kind and efficient, and breakfast had a good mix of hot and cold choices. I’d recommend it, though the price seems high.

I’ve used Dalhart as my halfway stop for fishing trips twice a year, though in recent years I’d driven on to Liberal KS because the town didn’t seem as friendly as it did five or six years ago. The motel staff were friendly and professional, and Sarah at breakfast was especially cheerful and charming. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely lit. The lighting switches took some figuring out: the bathroom light is behind the front door, and the nearby switch seemed to be for the vent, which didn’t work. The shower handle was loose inside, though I tightened it by hand as best I could. The main room light comes from the ceiling fan, so I’d suggest making the light chain longer and the fan chain shorter. That confusion accounts for my four stars.

The heated pool and hot tub were the one thing that slightly redeemed this place. Otherwise, go across the street, even for one night. Don’t get stuck with ice-cold showers. I’m here for work for three weeks, and the hot water has been out for two. They say they’ll fix it but haven’t, and haven’t offered compensation. My coworkers also get cold showers. Meanwhile, they chose this time to repair the pool instead of fixing the hot water in the rooms. The towels all seem to have yellow stains. Cleaning staff threw away some of my belongings, including bread and my dental floss picks. Breakfast is the same every day: sausage, something that looks like cheese, and fake eggs, along with muffins, bananas, and some kind of pastry. You’d probably prefer those to the “cooked” food. Plates don’t get refilled until a guest says something. The phones only connect to the front desk, so you can’t dial 911 in an emergency. The staff are okay, but don’t help when you complain about the conditions. On the plus side, parking is easy and the lot is never full, and shops in town are close by. They also delivered a package to my room and offered that service.
