Best Western Dallas Inn & Suites

We checked out and left, and they did refund my money. My grandson and I had walked in and asked before renting whether there was a pool and hot tub. We were told yes, so we booked for one night. Down at the pool, it looked more like a very small pool or an oversized hot tub, with about four kids swimming in it. A sign said the hot tub jets were out of order. The water felt too hot for a pool but too cold for a hot tub. At the desk, I asked where the hot tub was and said this didn’t seem like one, especially with the jets out. The man explained that it was their combined pool and hot tub, with the water set between the two temperatures.

For over $200 a night, I’d stay somewhere else. The only real positives were the nice breakfast staff and having Safeway next door. We booked a king suite with a sofa bed, but the mattress was so thin the springs poked our 10-year-old, and there were no sheets for it. She ended up sleeping on the cushions. There was M&Ms and other trash around and under the sofa, the bathroom fan was loud, the toilet was very slow and the sink backed up when we washed our hands. We got only two towels. Several nails stuck out from the stair handrail, and one caught and scratched my hand. There was no elevator or working pool, and the spa pool was out of order. It looked like renovations were underway, with carpet rolls in the hallways and parking lot. The hotel felt mediocre for the price and didn’t meet my expectations for a Best Western.

I only had a few hours off from my work as a local care provider, so I paid for a room to watch TV a bit, eat breakfast and get a couple hours of sleep before going back. Instead, the first room had a dirty tub and trash in the bin. They moved me, but the TV in the next room didn’t work despite the desk guy trying everything he could. He said he’d tell the manager, but then I found used disposable gloves in the vanity trash. They moved me a third time, and that room was fine, but by then I’d lost several hours. I got cold breakfast and little sleep. The manager never contacted me, and the assistant manager said they couldn’t do anything there and I had to go through the third party service. Hotels America told me to deal with the hotel, so I was sent back and forth. I paid a lot for those few hours and nothing was done to make it right. I just wanted a working TV and a clean shower, without someone else’s used gloves in the trash. I’ve liked this place, but I don’t know now. I hope they read this.

Disappointed. I’d read the reviews and it seems little has changed: there’s no elevator, the old carpets are still rolled up in the lobby, the pool is out of service, and the treadmill in the exercise room wasn’t working either.
