During our first visit for a wedding about four months ago, service wasn’t great, but the long check-in and checkout, both over 30 minutes, and elevators that never seemed to work were our only complaints. After the wedding, though, we came back late to find our door broken and its automatic lock completely unresponsive. We waited an hour and a half for a repairman, who seemed very reluctant to help. The hotel offered us two rooms for a later date, which we planned to use for another wedding this weekend. This latest stay was much worse. We arrived to about five cars waiting for a valet who was nowhere in sight. We decided to self-park, then tried to unload by the front door, but a security guard scolded us and said we couldn’t park there, even though three other cars were parked beside us. We held our bags for over 30 minutes, with no luggage carts, before we could finally check in. The rooms were cramped, neither had a visible trash can, and the small bathroom had enough amenities for one despite being a double queen room. Until last night, things had been okay, if more inconvenient than before. A free bed is a free bed, I figured. After another long night of wedding festivities, we found a bed bug between us in bed. The apology felt half-hearted, and we were offered another room, but we chose to leave. We waited another 30 minutes for valet to bring the car, then decided to get it ourselves from the valet parking. The front desk seemed fine with handing over the keys. All in all, Crowne Plaza isn’t worth your time, mental health, or money. Big shout out to the Adolphus for getting us a room at 1 in the morning. I definitely recommend it over Crowne Plaza.

The elevators were frightening. We got stuck several times for 10-15 minutes, and neither the alarm nor the call buttons worked. Nobody came to help. The hotel’s lower level is parking, and the area didn’t feel secure. It’s also beside a train station area where many homeless people gather, which made us uncomfortable. Room service staff raised their voices at me and acted aggressively in a way that felt threatening. I’ve never had that kind of treatment at a hotel. Reception staff were rude and unprofessional from the start. At least 10 things went wrong, but the manager never apologized or took responsibility, and made no effort to put things right. I’ve never seen hospitality this bad. Honestly, this was the worst hotel experience of my life. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.

The location downtown worked well, with easy access to Dart. Desk and restaurant workers were nice. The room had a small bathroom, and I saw people checking in early as well as rooms being cleaned late. My main problem was noise. The elevators were quick but so loud that I had to wear headphones to sleep. Even from the 16th floor, I could hear every car and siren through the old, very thin windows. The rooms need a deep clean to deal with mold, and the carpets need shampooing, not just vacuuming.

I had two rooms, and hotel agent angel charged me extra to upgrade to a balcony room that I’d already prepaid for. He said he was a supervisor, but he wasn’t. He refused to provide a receipt because he had charged me. After he hung up on me, I went to the hotel, where he threatened to call the police. I told him to call and that I’d wait. He never did, because he knew he was wrong. I’ve been trying to reach management, but staff screen my calls, don’t pass along the message, or just don’t answer. When I said I’d come in and wait for dia, they said I was trespassed and threatened to call the police. If I was trespassed, why wasn’t I when I went there? I’d tried to be patient because dia had been awesome, even though before all this the housekeeper came into the room unannounced at 10:25, before the 12:00 checkout. I’m taking this formal complaint all the way, including a TikTok review for my 120k followers. Let the internet do its thing. I bet the hotel won’t be fully booked for weeks. This is absolutely unacceptable. Update: DIA IS THE RING LEADER AT THE CIRCUS! She’s the one telling staff to say she’s unavailable, knowing she was dry assisting me! Corporate called while I was on another line, and Doug transferred the call to dia. She told corporate they don’t have a general manager, which is different from what she told me. Apparently she and the GM are tight, she called him her right hand man. I called the hotel on a three-way call with corporate. Doug answered and said dia was busy even though she’d just spoken with corporate. When I pointed that out, he hung up. The senior lead from corporate documented the whole encounter.

The balcony view was great, and the bed and standard amenities were fine. The location also worked well for a New Year's Eve staycation. But the building needs serious work. There was mold on the shower ceiling that looked painted over, peeling paint in the tub, and wallpaper lifting around the room. The toilet only flushed properly if you figured out the right way to use it. The air filter didn't fit right either, though maybe that's a small thing next to everything else. The elevator wait was about 10 minutes, which got annoying. For the price, it wasn't the worst stay, but don't expect much from the room's appearance or cleanliness. Our local Motel 6 looked better than the room we got.
