I’m here now, and close to lifetime Diamond status, but the perks at this Hilton are minimal. They don’t provide snacks or extra water for Diamond members, unlike other locations. For what this hotel costs, they should offer the same Diamond benefits as other Hilton hotels. The room is basic and workable for a few days, but nothing special. The bathroom is dated and has no storage for organizing personal items. When I raised the temperature problem and my soaked belongings at the desk, the man there had no solution beyond saying he’d tell management, who wasn’t available. Nobody offered to move me to a room with newer controls or provide a room comp. Housekeeping had spilled an unknown, unpleasant-smelling substance on the floor, then moved my travel bag and pajamas on top of it, apparently to cover the wet spot. My pajamas were soaked, and my bag was stained. They didn’t report it to management or notify us or the front desk. The attached pictures show the wet, stained items. When I arrived, the smoke alarm was going off because of a low battery, so I had to call maintenance. Later I found the room too cold and tried to adjust the thermostat. After an ice storm, with night temperatures in the single and teen digits all week, the room was set to air conditioning. A tiny notice said guests must call maintenance to switch it to heat. A maintenance man changed a switch in the ceiling intake area, set the temperature to 72, and left without asking what I wanted. I thought I could adjust it, but the hotel controls the temperature completely. At 72 it’s far too hot for sleeping. My only choices are turning the system off, asking to switch it back to cold air, or putting up with 72 degrees.
The overnight front desk agent on 12/12/25 should be retrained on Hilton service standards or fired for how unprofessionally he treated me as a loyal Hilton Honors guest. Before arriving, I called the evening staff to explain that an unexpected delay and a three-hour drive from my home area meant I’d be very, very late. When I got there, the agent was rude and immediately discriminated against me. I stayed civil and respectful because I was tired and just wanted to get to my room. He continued being rude during check-in and charged my card more than the quoted amount. When I asked whether the room was connecting, he demanded my keys, canceled my reservation, and told me to leave and find somewhere else. He hadn’t told me about any issue with my late arrival. When I asked why he canceled it and tried to explain, he called security and said, “please take out the trash it's time for him to leave.” I told him I was a regional manager of hospitality and that his behavior was unprofessional. He mocked me, saying, “okay Mr Regional Manager you're trash and need to leave.” He refused to give me his name, so I walked to my vehicle. He followed me out and kept mocking and instigating. I told him I was recording, and he said that was okay because his staff backs everyone there. As I was leaving, he was rude and threatening, even saying that if I returned he would beat that a$$. As a loyal Hilton guest, I urge people to stay elsewhere as long as this person works there. A hotel stay should be enjoyable and safe, not discriminatory and threatening.
I travel often for work, so it’s nice to find a place this clean with staff who are cheerful and helpful. Everyone I dealt with, from the cleaning crew and maintenance to the front desk, was polite and welcoming. Everything was great.
The hotel was a convenient distance from downtown, and it worked as an affordable option during a last-minute trip of almost a week. I went during the State Fair, when prices were high everywhere, and the reviews had made me skeptical. I was surprised that the room was decent, clean-looking, and free of bad smells. The mini fridge and microwave were handy. The TV was small, about 32" or less, but I barely watched it. Mornings had room service available, and they brought extra towels when I asked. It took a little while for the shower to warm up. The AC HVAC made a loud drilling noise for about a minute each time it started, then stopped. I’d recommend it if you want somewhere cheap and convenient.
We were traveling with more than 400 teenagers, and every room was ready for us. The location was great, and the staff were too. The hotel is showing its age, but the service more than made up for it.
