The person who welcomed me was really pleasant, and it was easy to walk to grocery stores and places to eat. I camped here in June while on a bicycle tour, and the site has changed a lot since my first visit in 2011. The tent area is now behind the main area, away from the highway and public view, so it’s much quieter. There’s nice grass, some shade, and a picnic table. Another table could help when it’s crowded. The bathhouse is nice too, and the covered porch has comfortable seating and power for charging devices. What’s not to like?
The tent was in direct sun and unbearably hot throughout my two-night stay. I asked the operator if I could pitch my own tent in the shade on the second night. Instead, I was offered an air-conditioned room for an extra $60, with no refund of the price difference if I set up my own tent. The conversation quickly turned contentious, so I just put up with the heat. Even the person preparing the large tent remarked on how hot it was. I’d give zero stars for dealing with the operator if I could.
The cabins are great, the place is quaint and well located, and the people are some of the finest. We were in Darby for a gig and got to spend an evening at this lovely facility. I’d definitely recommend considering it for your next stay.
The tent spot was just right for our group of 14 cyclists riding across the USA, with good grass, bathrooms close by, and distance from the road. It was quiet at night, and traffic noise was minimal where we camped. The grounds were clean and well cared for, and the RV guests were courteous, respectful, and curious. Libbie handled things with real professionalism and was very accommodating to our group. Thanks, Libbie, for a great place to stay and for providing such a valuable service to cyclists. You’re doing a great job. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, and I hope to see you again.
We were able to walk from the room to Darby’s bars and restaurants, and it was only a 35-minute drive to Lost Trail Ski Area in the morning. We stayed two nights in the Highlander room, which was clean, modern, and just right for two. It had a kitchen, a beautiful bathroom, and a fantastic king-sized bed. The service was fantastic too. I’ll definitely stay here again next winter!
