Dockside Inn of Darien

Dockside has become my regular place to rest, unwind, and write. I write novels inspired by the atmosphere, romance, and culture of the Georgia Coast, and this is a wonderful setting for that. The river view from the balcony is lovely, and Darien’s wine bar is just steps away. Skippers seafood restaurant is convenient too, making it easy to meet up with people. Darien has plenty to offer, and Dockside is a great base for enjoying it.

The river view from the balcony was delightful, and there was a comfortable seating area out there. I hadn't realized the balcony ran along all the rooms, so spotting a man from the corner of my eye startled me at first. Once I understood the layout, it was fine. The room and bathroom were huge, the towels felt so luxurious that my boyfriend wanted to know where to buy some, and there’s a nice shared space too. Getting in was easy with a code. I’d first booked for an earlier trip, and the owner kindly moved the reservation to the later date I requested.

Small and casual, just the kind of place I enjoy. This little hotel is in downtown Darien, with a porch for each room and restaurants and shops an easy walk away. It isn't fancy, but I’ll definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for a wedding reception next door, and the lobby gave us a quiet place to wait before heading to the venue. It’s clean, quaint, and well cared for. The river view is great, and old town Darien’s shops, restaurants, and other spots are all close enough to walk to. The price felt right, and we have no regrets. We’ll have friends and family stay here when they visit. It’s a very nice place for what it is. If you’re after high end, go to the Oaks. If noise or anything else becomes an issue, the owners leave a number and will take care of it. They’re great people.
