There are some good things about the community. It feels family oriented, with lots of Hispanics and Brazilians. It’s nice seeing kids playing in the street and families gathering in driveways. There’s also a school bus stop by the exit gate. My friend rents a townhome here, and I’ve visited many times. But visitors have nowhere to park, and the HOA seems too relaxed about safety and security. In March, I called the HOA president because residents were feeding alligators in the ponds. She said they had signs telling people not to feed them, but hadn’t put the signs up yet and would do so. So far, I’ve only seen warning signs. The do not feed alligator signs still aren’t up. This morning, my car was towed from my friend’s driveway. My friend contacted the townhouse owner, and someone in a group chat had shared a photo of the tow, which let me get the towing company’s number. It was Central State Towing in Davenport. The owner told us that 18 vehicles were towed last week, most belonging to visiting family members. Only a few yellow road markings show where parking is prohibited, and nothing says you can’t park in a relative’s driveway. Meanwhile, cars are parked along curbs and near the pool, blocking sightlines and turning a two-lane road into one lane. That’s dangerous. The towing company said they make rounds at least three times a day looking for cars to tow. I believe the HOA is getting a kickback from them. The HOA president should be replaced, and the relatives whose cars were towed should get their money back.
