Motel 6 Davenport, IA

It’s a typical Motel 6. Some rooms have long-term residents, and those guests should be kept separate from short-term stays. There were noisy kids directly upstairs, marching around at all hours.

We showed up at 10:07 pm, tired and traveling with the kids, only to be told our reservation had been cancelled because we hadn't called by 6. We’d told them twice, on separate calls, that we expected to arrive around 10:30. I know that’s the usual policy, but they’d been reminded, and cancelling meant the rate went up by $15. The front desk guy was incredibly rude. We were exhausted, so we took the keys and went upstairs anyway. The room smelled like pot as soon as we walked in. The sheets were dirty, there was no soap at all, and something that looked like mucus was splattered over the TV. Later, people next door started yelling at 3 am, and pot smoke came into our room through the connecting door. From about 3:30, they were yelling, fighting, and blasting music, waking both kids. We tried calling the front desk but got no answer, which seems consistent with other reviews. The woman was yelling that she’d kill the man in the room, so we finally called the police. We got no sleep, and even our child’s pack and play now smells like pot. This was ridiculous, 0/10. I read the reviews afterward and can’t believe this is a normal experience here.

I've stayed here for about five years, sometimes weekly, and have never had a problem. The people at the desk and the housekeepers are always positive, kind, and ready to help with whatever needs doing. It’s pet friendly too, which is hard to beat.

The location was great, and the room was clean, nice, and a decent size. The staff were kind, especially the front desk team, who were really helpful. I'd stay again anytime.
