The bedrooms were clean, and each had its own bathroom. The kids and adults all loved the arcade room, theater room, pool at the house, and themed rooms. There wasn’t enough cookware for our 26 people, though. There was one stove, and using the grill cost $100. The driveway didn’t have enough space for all our cars, and the community pool wasn’t just for resort customers.

We’ve been booking three houses at a time each year for our family’s stays at Villatel At Solterra over the past four years. We’ve always liked the location and the idea behind Villatel, but the upkeep has steadily declined. Unless cleanliness improves significantly and we can be sure these problems will be addressed, I’m afraid we won’t return next year. The homes look appealing from the outside, but inside we’ve repeatedly found stained furniture and dirty rugs. Last year we were disappointed by those issues and gave Villatel another try, hoping they were temporary. This year was worse: one house had bed bugs, and another had so many maintenance problems that we called for help five times in four days. We also needed maintenance twice at our third house. We took the rugs out of the way until we left and covered the furniture with sheets so we could sit comfortably. Removing the rugs and properly cleaning the furniture would be a simple improvement. It doesn’t have to be high-end furniture, but it still needs to be maintained. Villatel is a wonderful idea, and it’s hard to beat the location, but the lack of proper maintenance is affecting the quality of our stays.

At 6058 Broad Oak Drive, the house’s interior looked almost exactly like the listing. Starting my check-in video let me see everything up close and from every angle, though, including the Theater Room furniture, which was badly ripped with stuffing coming out of the backs and tops. We kept putting it back in from the floor. The pictures don’t show that. There was also a used sanitary napkin by the edge of the pool. On the first day, we had to call maintenance because the Garbage Disposal wasn’t working and had smelly standing water and food waste. The AC and WiFi didn’t work either. A pre-arrival inspection should have caught these problems. The bedrooms looked beautiful, but the foam mattresses all had body indentations from long use, so you rolled into a hole when you lay down. It wasn’t comfortable. The house is advertised to sleep 24 people, and that part is true. Having a bathroom for every room was absolutely wonderful. But there isn’t parking for 24 people. You have to drive around the neighborhood looking for designated white-lined spaces, or they’ll tow your car and charge $200. There are lots of advertised amenities that make you want to rent the house, but using them comes with ridiculously high extra fees that you only find out about too late to cancel. Heating the pool and hot tub costs extra. The only things we didn’t have to pay extra for were toilet paper and paper towels. This was my first time renting with VILLATEL, and my last. Thanks for the memories.

Our stay at House 1697 on Oak Blossom, from June 6 through June 12, 2026, was the worst part of four years with Villatel Solterra. After years of loyalty and concerns about cleanliness, maintenance, and repeated hot water problems, finding bed bugs was the final straw. It disrupted our vacation and left us worried about the property’s health, safety, and condition. My family and I won’t be staying at Villatel Solterra again. Soon after arriving, my 33-year-old daughter, who has no known health conditions, woke up struggling to breathe and feeling extremely ill. We took her to the nearest hospital. After blood work and testing, she was discharged, but over the next few days she still complained about bite marks on her neck and episodes of chest tightness. My granddaughter and I slept in the same bed with her to comfort and support her. During the night, my granddaughter kept saying she felt bugs crawling on her, although we couldn’t see anything at first. The next morning we found bed bugs in the room. We later learned the adjacent room was affected too, and several people in our group had unexplained bite marks. We contacted Villatel immediately, and a representative came to the property and looked at photographs of the bugs and bite marks. We’ve been loyal customers for four years, usually renting two or three 12-bedroom homes for our family vacations. Our first stay in 2023 was mostly positive, though we had no hot water in the kitchen or showers and a few minor maintenance concerns, which were promptly handled. By 2024, the furniture and rugs seemed dirty, hot water was again a problem in the kitchen and bathrooms, and we had to call maintenance several times for minor repairs. In 2025, the furniture and rugs were still visibly dirty, the floors looked like they hadn’t been properly mopped, and hot water problems continued. Maintenance visits became a regular part of that stay. I hope Villatel takes this seriously and thoroughly inspects and treats the affected property so other families don’t go through the same ordeal.

There was plenty of space for all the adults and kids to have fun together. We had a great family gathering in this six-bedroom villa, where every room has its own bathroom. The kitchen was fantastic and stocked with cookware. You can also request a heated pool and hot tub.
