Best Western Dayton Inn & Suites

After making repairs to our own home, we came back and stayed in the spotless rooms. They immediately lowered the price to make things easier for us, which was amazing. We watched movies and my son got snacks for us from the vending machines. The rooms were accessible, with a ramp and elevator, which was a plus for me. Earlier, we'd come to Best Western exhausted after being displaced from my dad's home following his funeral. I'd checked online and called about getting a room with two beds. The front desk woman was so kind and told us about the room and the complimentary breakfast. It was one of the best night's sleep we'd had in a long time.

The hotel is clean and has a good breakfast, and I'd come back. But my husband, our two children, and I got a room the morning of hurricane beryl, and they charged an extra $35 for checking in before 3 pm. I don't think we should have had to pay that given the circumstances. On an ordinary day I understand the fee, but charging people who need somewhere safe during a hurricane feels like taking advantage of a situation most people don't face every day. I'd like the hotel to make this right for my family.

The website gave this place an 8.2/10, but after this stay I don't want to use best western again. The room smelled bad and was really dirty, especially in the corners, where the carpet looked like it had never seen a vacuum. The TV was about 30 inches, had a very dark picture, and felt like something from the '90s. Breakfast was poor. We're vegetarian, and the eggs didn't have their own spoon, the same one was used for the meat. My son had a waffle.

We ended up here for two weeks after an unfortunate accident at home, and the staff were amazing. I didn't get her name, but the young woman who works the front desk during the week was the sweetest. Her mom also did an amazing job looking after our room. I'd highly recommend this hotel to others.
