Baymont by Wyndham Intl Speedway/I-95/Daytona Beach

The only good part of the stay was how easy it was to park close to our room. The room was filthy. My towel was so stained on both sides that I couldn’t use it to dry off, and the sheets and curtains were stained too. Dirt and scuff marks covered the walls. It smelled horribly of mold and mildew, and the hallways had an awful smell I couldn’t identify. The tub was so dirty I had to put a towel down to shower because I was afraid to go barefoot. One of the two beds had a huge crater in the mattress. Lying on my back, my knees and legs were higher than my torso, like in a terrible beach chair. The other bed was lumpy and extremely uncomfortable. After seeing stains on the sheets, I slept on top of it without covers. It wasn’t even a busy weekend in Daytona, but I can imagine how it might be during busier weeks. This didn’t feel like a safe place to be. Even our Uber driver told us to be careful and said we really shouldn’t be staying here.

The rooms were clean and the front desk ladies were nice. There was no hot water in the shower, though, which is why I’m giving it only two stars. Otherwise it’d be five. The vending is way overpriced.

We paid for early check-in but were told the room wasn’t ready. When we came back, it was a total wreck, with dog food all over the floor and no sheets on the bed. They gave us another room, but it faced the runway and we could hear and feel the airplanes taking off.

The friendly staff, convenient spot by I-95 and the speedway, and reasonable price made up for the lack of luxury. My room was clean and roomy, and there’s an outdoor balcony, a pool, and a small area for dogs. It’s an older motel, so they’re often renovating and improving it. Breakfast included waffles, sandwiches, muffins, fresh fruit, cereal, coffee, and juice.
