Motel 6 Daytona Beach, FL - Speedway

We chose Motel 6 for the Daytona 500 because we wanted somewhere we could walk back to after the race. Some of the reviews made us hesitate, but we ended up really glad we booked it. Check-in went smoothly, and the room was ready, clean, and smelled fresh. The beds were more comfortable than expected, the sheets were clean, and the bathroom was spotless. When we needed extra towels, the front desk staff were happy to help. We had a great stay and would gladly come back for the race next year.

We only stayed because we had nowhere else to go, and I wouldn’t recommend this place or return. The room was disgusting and didn’t look cleaned. The sheets seemed like they hadn’t been washed in months and might have had bed bugs. The smoke alarm had been ripped off the wall, and the floor and other surfaces were sticky. There was so much dust that I was sniffling and sneezing all night and day. I felt extremely unsafe at night. I heard noises, including what sounded like scratching at the door and someone trying to get in, so we took extra steps to lock it. The walls were so thin we could hear people talking in the neighboring rooms. They also made us pay a deposit when we arrived, without telling us beforehand, and I don’t know if we’ll get it back. The only reason I gave one star is that it provided a roof over our heads. Honestly, it doesn’t deserve even that.

The room had clean beds but dirty floors. The staff were nice until they insisted on coming in to check that we weren’t tearing the room up. We weren’t, we were cleaning it ourselves. They seemed surprised to see it in good shape and left us alone after that. It’s basically just a bed and a roof. Like many motels, they took a $100 deposit at check-in, but unlike most, they didn’t return it promptly. The room was cleaner when we left than when we arrived, yet two weeks later it was still missing, despite their saying it would be refunded within three days. The motel blamed corporate, and corporate said the individual property had to issue the refund. I don’t care who sends my money, but they kept making promises and sending me in circles. Don’t stay if you don’t want to risk losing money. Update: I got 50% of the deposit back today, April 3, 2026, four months after my stay. I don’t know how they settled on that amount. After cleaning the room before leaving and waiting four months to get only half back, I’m still not sure I’d recommend it.

I stayed here for Welcome to Rockville, already expecting little because it was a Motel 6. But this place should be shut down by the health department. There were several cockroaches in the room, stains on the sheets, and flies circling the lights. The floors were so filthy my feet turned black walking from the bathroom to the bed. The door wouldn’t even close all the way. The phone was disgusting, with a black cord and a random piece of orange trash on it. I have no idea what it was or where it came from. We asked staff to remove the dead roaches. They said they would, but 12 hours later they were still there. Do not stay here. Sleep in your car. The place is completely unsanitary, and the staff don’t care!
