The desk clerk who checked me in was the highlight. I’d accidentally booked through Expedia for the following night, and the reservation was non-refundable. He helped me contact Expedia, and we sorted it out quickly and successfully. I wish I’d gotten his name so I could thank him. The hotel was clean, well maintained, and in a convenient spot. After reading some very negative reviews, I was surprised, though they seemed to be from several months earlier. I can only assume significant changes have happened. For a quick stop in Decatur, it’s hard to beat at a reasonable price. A five-star two-star hotel!

We slept really well on the quiet street, and breakfast was fresh and filling, just what you want to start the day. The staff were genuinely kind from check-in on, and the whole stay felt easy and smooth. For the comfort and service at this price, I’d happily book again.

We came back six months after our first stay and didn’t think twice about booking again. The photos are from this trip on April 18, 2026. This time the place was very clean and quiet, and the gentleman at the desk was nice and let us check in early. There was an extra fee for that, but plenty of hotels have made us wait until close to 3. The coffee is the best ever. Last time, we were in town for one night. The price was good, the room was clean and quiet, and the location was convenient. The coffee was good then, too, and I’d said I’d stay again if I returned to Decatur.

The final room was clean, quiet, nicely furnished with a seating area, and had comfortable beds. Management were kind and apologetic throughout, and they got us settled, so we had a very good, quiet night’s sleep. Still, these problems shouldn’t have happened, and it’s concerning that management hadn’t caught them. In the first room, one bedspread was visibly dirty. The sheets looked fresh, so I was willing to have them just replace the bedspread, but they said they had no extras and moved us to another room. In that room, a loud beeping came from the HVAC vent, like a digital watch alarm. They thought it might be a smoke alarm with a bad battery, but checking showed that wasn’t it, so we were moved a third time. I hesitate to leave a poor review because the managers did make it right in the end.
