Deer Park Motor Inn

We left after just ten minutes. The bed had seen better days, the linen looked like it was from the ’70s, and there was only a regular house key with no inside latch. The shower pressure was barely there, though the water was hot, and the neighborhood felt very shaky. I’ve stayed in plenty of lesser hotels while traveling, but this one was really bad.

The room was clean and private, but the amenities are limited. I’d say it works for a one to three night stay, not a long-term staycation.

We rented a room for the weekend, but it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I bought a candle to try to cover the smell that had soaked into the room. We also weren’t allowed to have guests visit. While we were out, housekeeping entered the room. I understood housekeeping should come while hotel guests are there, since the hotel would be responsible if anything went missing. The front desk attendants need better customer service with arriving guests. I’d recommend it 30% out of 100%.

The room was badly outdated, the carpet smelled like someone had lived there for years, and I found a dead bug and old food that had missed the trash. There was mold in the showerhead and all over the bathroom walls. The two pillows were so thin that I slept terribly. At night, the parking lot turns into a lot for the restaurant and bar next door, which is another mess. I appreciated the lovely housekeeper, who brought me everything she could to make me more comfortable, but I still had to go buy carpet powder, Lysol, toilet paper, and Clorox wipes.
