The Ray Hotel Delray Beach, Curio Collection by Hilton

The beds were much too firm for us, though I know comfort is subjective. We also found old raspberries in the fridge from a previous guest, which suggests the room wasn’t properly checked before we arrived. Housekeeping staff themselves weren’t the issue; this felt like a management and operations failure. The Ray Hotel is a gorgeous property, and Hilton has created a stylish, modern boutique feel. But the service didn’t live up to the look. Several front desk staff wore AirPods while talking with guests. When we asked at 4:30 p.m. for a basic tidy-up, despite having the tidy-up button on, we got, “if we can, we will, but no promises.” For this price and category, I expected better attention to detail and service. The hotel has a lot of potential, but those things seriously missed the mark.

The Ray is in a great spot just off Atlantic Avenue, in the up-and-coming Pineapple Grove area. The rooms are lovely, the property is well maintained, and its modern upscale Florida look suited our wedding. The reception food was outstanding, some of the best banquet food we’ve had, and the service staff were kind and helpful. Apart from a few small hiccups, the wedding and welcome party in November 2025 came together well and made for a wonderful weekend. Planning was much harder than it needed to be. Over the 10 months we worked with The Ray, we were passed among four event sales and planning contacts, some changes planned and some unexpected. Information got lost with each handoff, so we had to repeat details or send screenshots to confirm things already promised. Responses often took a week or two despite follow-ups, even when we were just two weeks from the wedding. We regularly had to organize and break down the details ourselves so the team could address them. This happened across nearly the whole team and left us worried about whether the hotel could pull off the event. Some small mistakes during the weekend could have been avoided, though most things came together in the end. We hope The Ray fixes these issues so future couples can enjoy the venue with fewer headaches. If you work with them, get everything in writing.

We had a lovely night on the rooftop at The Ray Hotel Delray Beach, with live music, good cocktails, and an upscale, lively atmosphere. The one strange touch was getting canned beer served unopened with no glass, which seemed odd for a hotel of this caliber. Otherwise, it was all very good and a great Delray Beach spot to check out.

The room stayed hot and muggy all night and smelled strongly of mold. I didn’t try to raise it with the front desk after the way check-in went. We had an email confirming a complimentary upgrade from deluxe to premier, but the agent kept repeating, “we have you in a deluxe king,” in a condescending tone, without checking or acknowledging what I was saying. The next morning, I asked another staff member whether we were heading to the right café for our complimentary breakfast and got more attitude and dismissiveness. Even the lobby’s overpowering artificial perfume, which felt like it might be covering something unpleasant, made a bad first impression. We chose The Ray Hotel for an anniversary staycation, but the hospitality and basic guest care were shockingly poor for an upscale hotel. It was one of our most disappointing stays, and we won’t be back.
