Butterfield Stage Motel

The front desk attendant was a delight to talk with while checking in, a real people person. Our suite was spacious, spotless, and lovingly remodeled, with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The care put into the details shows pride in ownership, and the guest experience beats what you often get from the big hospitality companies.

My husband stayed here in October and November while traveling to handle an out-of-state family matter. He liked the room, the price, and the friendly management enough to choose it again on his return trip. He also felt our minivan was secure in the parking area, which is a worry these days. The property is being upgraded gradually, and they’ve wisely started with the spacious, clean rooms. We plan to stay here on future road trips between San Diego and TX.

Cass is a fun, sassy hostess who clearly takes pride in the property. The place was beautifully clean, really spacious, and comfortable. I live out of hotels much of the time and don’t often leave reviews, but I’m adding this one to my recommendation list.

Our room was huge, clean, updated inside, and had a comfortable bed. We arrived at 1 a.m. and felt bad that we’d woken the owners, but they were still warm and helpful. The neighborhood felt safe, though it’s a little industrial and a few blocks from the main drag, so it’s not very walkable. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone passing through.
