Bluegreen Vacations The Breakers Resort, an Ascend Collection Resort

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. My confirmation listed 61 Chase Ave, Dennis Port, MA 02639, which is near the ocean, so that’s where I thought the resort would be. Instead, the signs sent us to check in at Bluegreen Vacations The Soundings, an Ascend Collection Resort. At the desk, I learned the room I’d paid for was across the street on Inman Road, not at the original location. When I brought it up, the front desk employee said it was basically the same location and that their system often confuses the two. She also explained that the section across the street had no ocean view. She checked whether we could move, then said nothing was available, even though I saw only two cars in the parking lot across the street.

We’re in our third or fourth year as Bluegreen members, and this was one of the nicer rooms we’ve had. Nothing over the top, just a comfortable and pleasant stay.

The place itself is nice and sits in a great spot on the Cape, but our room overlooked the parking lot, with no ocean view. We’d expected an ocean view or a balcony, especially since there were only a few guests at the resort in the last week of February. The South building was noisy, with doors slamming even though there were just a handful of people in the whole building. The room was disappointing, though otherwise it’s a nice place. Be sure to ask for exactly what you want, or they may put you in the back with no good view.

We spent 100,000 Choice Privileges points for four nights, in the only room type available to us: a one-bedroom suite with a queen bed and a queen sofa bed. Since it was just my sister, who’s in her 70s, and me in my 60s, having separate rooms instead of one typical hotel room with two beds was a nice bonus. Both beds were very comfortable and clean. Our room and bathroom were in great shape and clean, with plenty of dishes, glasses, and utensils. We were in building 7, just across the street from the main building and a short walk to the beach and other property amenities. We also enjoyed evenings by the fire pit. Linens were refreshed when we asked. A couple small things: the windows have blinds rather than blackout curtains, so the walkway lights shine in at night, though we both slept well. One parking space near building 7 is directly over the sewer. We parked there and woke up wondering why the car smelled so bad. It’s a wonderful place to stay, highly recommended.
