Quality Inn - Denton

The staff were nice, and my room was small, quiet, and dark, which made it easy to sleep. The unusual colors gave it an intimate feel. It was clean apart from a dirty tub, and I didn’t see any bugs. I’ve kept house for 10 years, so I can be picky. The highway didn’t bother me at all, unlike some hotels where the traffic feels right beside you. Breakfast was much more than I expected: waffles, eggs, sausage, biscuits, cereal, fruit, and yogurt. I didn’t need another meal until dinner. I’m not sure why other guests said there was no breakfast, maybe they came too late. The evening front desk needed a reminder to give me towels. I think they could use someone better at laundry, though I’ve done laundry for 10 years and may be particular. The hotel could be presented more as a boutique place. It’s very nice for a solo business traveler or a couple looking for a good night’s sleep.

The cool AC and what seemed to be a clean bed were about the only positives, though given the state of the place, I wasn’t sure about the bed. It felt rundown and cheap, more like a dingy motel than a hotel, and certainly not worth $115. The bathroom was tiny, breakfast was poor, and the front desk staff didn’t seem to have real hospitality experience. The elevator was small, ancient, and felt shaky. The back door wasn’t secure, and loud men were hanging around outside with the door open.

The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the man at the front desk was really nice and made the place feel safer. Still, the halls to the rooms were very dark, and men stood outside smoking at night, which felt a bit sketchy. When I arrived, I was asked for a $50 cash deposit to ensure the room was clean at checkout. That requirement wasn’t stated anywhere, so I had to withdraw cash from their machine and pay a fee.

The beds and pillows were so comfortable that my boyfriend and I slept really well, and the free breakfast was very good. The pricing was amazing too. Nancy and Marsha on staff made checkout easy when I was feeling really sick. They were understanding and kind throughout our stay. Great service, a good breakfast, and wonderful beds.
