DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Denver

Caleb, Jose, and Mackenzee were so friendly and shared local food and coffee suggestions that we tried and really liked. Janessa made check-in quick, professional, and welcoming, which meant a lot after a long travel day. Everyone’s customer service was excellent. The hotel was clean and well cared for, from the lobby and hallways to our room, and the on-site dining options were appreciated even though we didn’t try them. The location worked well between the airport and downtown Denver. We slept as well as you can away from home, and would absolutely stay again.

The breakfast was good, and instead of a traditional buffet we sat down and ordered from a menu. Our bed and pillows were comfortable, and the air conditioner and heating unit worked properly. This was my first visit to Denver, CO and first stay at DoubleTree by Hilton. Matt and Edna welcomed me at the service desk with warm, professional personalities. They went beyond what I expected in answering my questions and handling my concerns. Matt took care of one of them right away, and I really appreciated his effort to make me happy as a guest. It was a very positive experience and top-notch service. I’d recommend this location to friends and family visiting the area. We need more friendly customer service like this in the world.

The cookies were great, and the lobby was beautiful. The staff were friendly too. Then I got off the elevator into a dark, dingy hallway that felt like a cheap horror movie, and the room was bleak, cold, and uncomfortable. The room was at 54°F, with the thermostat off, in Colorado in December. After a four-hour drive, I went to the bathroom and waited about 30 seconds for the flickering light to come on. It revealed brown stains at the bottom of the tub. I set the thermostat to 70° and tried to sleep, but the thin walls, highway noise, wind whistling through the window, and heater that kept running made that nearly impossible. When I checked again, the room was over 90°. I could only turn off both the heat and AC and put up with it. The next morning, staff asked how things were going. I explained the problems and agreed to maintenance, though I wouldn’t be back until late. When I returned, the heater was blasting and the room was 93°F. Thanks, maintenance. My one-eyed dog could’ve done better. I complained again and they offered another maintenance visit at 9 p.m. I declined and gave up. No heat, no AC, just raw-dogged the final night. Great cookies. Everything else, not so much.

Character’s Bar, near the entrance at the DoubleTree, completely turned my night around. River, Mulu, and Jessica were friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and showed me what good service looks like. Before that, I’d spent an hour at the Hub Bar at the DoubleTree in Denver on Quebec Street without anyone offering a drink or anything else. Staff walked by several times, but I felt completely ignored. If your time matters to you, I’d skip the Hub Bar.
