Fairfield Inn & Suites Denver Cherry Creek

The staff can’t even be bothered to provide a basic level of service. They just don’t care. The garage is atrocious, the mattress sags in the middle, and the rooms are cramped and tiny, with cheap, worn carpet. They don’t provide plain half-and-half for coffee, only sugar-laced alternatives. I stay at a lot of Marriott hotels, and this one does the brand a real disservice. If there are many more Marriotts like this, I’ll drop my loyalty to them altogether.

As a retired firefighter, I always take the stairs at least once to check the way out. On two days in a row, the stairway was blocked by a large rubberized carpet runner. In an emergency, that hazard could cost people their lives. I only booked one night so I could stay at the same hotel as a colleague. He cancelled his trip, but I kept my booking, and this was easily the worst hotel I’ve stayed in for many years. It felt more like an EconoLodge than a Marriott. I was thankfully at a Hilton the next night. The tub drain was rusty, the tub itself felt extremely squishy, like it had a bad or very old overlay, and the bed felt about 30 years old. I didn’t pull back the sheets, since I might have found the same disgusting stains other guests mentioned.

For the price, it’s not bad, and the continental breakfast was decent and restocked while it was open. The rooms do look a bit run-down: frayed carpet, visible wallpaper glue or other marks, and peeled wallpaper in one of the rooms. Our first room’s door lock stopped working, so staff had to break in to retrieve our things before moving us. The toilet in the second room ran constantly, so they upgraded us for free to a larger room with a living room and desk. It was kind of them to make up for the inconvenience, though the new room didn’t have the mountain view we’d had before.

After a roommate situation went horribly wrong, we came here and I was pretty distraught. Daisy at the front desk and the rest of the staff were super helpful, which made a big difference. The rooms were clean, breakfast was great, and the kids had a lot of fun in the pool. It was a much nicer end to our Spring Break. I accidentally left an expensive dress in the front room, and the office held it for us. I’d recommend this place to travelers for its proximity to shops and Cherry Creek Mall, along with the great price.
