Motel 6 Thornton, CO

We heard a lot of yelling and fighting from other residents, along with thumping party bass. The place seemed full of homeless people and drug addicts. Our non-smoking room smelled strongly of cigarettes, though it looked wiped down and we didn't see bugs. The shower was tiny, with barely any water pressure or hot water. The sink faucet wasn't installed properly and turned along with the handle.

Brittany and Sam on the morning shift were friendly and accommodating, and they clearly have good customer service skills. The first evening, though, the older blonde woman working the desk was rude from the start and acted annoyed whenever I asked for anything, as if I were inconveniencing her by expecting her to do her job politely. The bigger issue was four days without hot water after the boiler broke and they were waiting on a part. The staff said they'd been specifically told not to give any discounts, even though they wished they could help. I asked for a free night or a discount, but the owner wouldn't offer any compensation for being unable to shower for four days while charging the full rate. I understand things break, but hot water is one of the main things included in that rate. If I'd wanted a place with no hot water, I'd have gone camping and paid $25 for a spot. The owner comes across as a greedy slumlord who doesn't appreciate his customers. It blows my mind that someone can treat people this way, especially when many guests can't afford to go somewhere else.

The staff are unprofessional and rude, like they all hate their jobs. The place has mold and leaking ceilings, and it smells of cigarettes even though it's supposed to be non-smoking. The laundry room doesn't work.

I liked that the hotel was close to a popular area but tucked away from traffic. The service was friendly, courteous, and informative. The room itself was as basic as a motel room gets.
