Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Des Moines - Northwest by IHG

The pool was the highlight for us: a good temperature, plenty of tables and chairs, decent size, and eight feet deep at one end. Our group’s huge suite had enough room for a birthday party, too. Check-in was easy, the staff were capable, and the big lobby felt inviting. There’s also a pantry for snacks and drinks. The rooms were clean but dated, and the mattresses need replacing. Every room has a fridge and microwave. The hotel is just off the interstate, behind a car wash and Bennigans, which didn’t work well for us since we wanted to be in west des Moines. There are lots of shops, a mall, car dealers, restaurants, and other things nearby, though. Two nights in a king room came to $250 with taxes and fees.

We left an expensive medical device behind and only noticed once we were back home in Kansas. The staff shipped it to us by UPS, and it arrived less than 30 hours after they packaged it. The hotel is older, and our bathroom was very small, but everything was clean and well maintained. We’d stay again when we’re in the area.

I’ve stayed here at least 100 times in the past year, and Teresa at the front desk has set a high bar for people working at Holiday Inn locations across the country. She was incredibly friendly and helpful. I hope she gets recognized for the support she gave me.

Theresa from the front desk came to get us herself after our flight was delayed and we reached the airport late, past the shuttle cutoff. She was so kind, and a pleasure to talk with on the ride back. The hotel was clean and well run, too. I can’t recommend it enough.
