Kasa Des Moines Downtown Apartments

We’d stay here again. The apartment was roomy and comfortable, with a full kitchen that had everything we needed and worked well. It was also easy to walk to restaurants and bus lines. The floors looked clean, but dirt was hidden in the flooring and showed up on our bare feet. There’s no parking at the apartment. We double-parked to unload, then used the ramp at 525 5th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50309, about a block away. Our truck fit under the 6-foot, 6-inch clearance, but it was tight.

Check-in and checkout are simple, and the place is worth the price. The first time, I had to call the company for help with self check-in, but they answered quickly and made sure I had all the codes. Each “room” feels more like an apartment, with a kitchen and washer/dryer. The rooms are clean and seem renovated, with a more modern feel. The location has worked well for me since my job is only a few blocks away. I love staying here.

Hy-Vee is an excellent grocery store within an easy walk, and parking is free if you drive there. Street parking is convenient once you scan and download the app, and it’s free after 9 p.m. Pay close attention to where you park, though, since some streets prohibit parking during the morning and evening rush hours. Once you learn the system, it’s easy and reasonably priced. Neither shower is accessible for someone with a disability. We were traveling with a 95-year-old, so that was a challenge.

The layout is good and everything was very clean. They’d thoughtfully put sound machines in the bedrooms where openings face the hallway. There was also plenty of extra bedding for the pullout couch.
