avid hotel Chicago O’Hare – Des Plaines

The staff were great and helpful, and the complimentary hot breakfast was a nice bonus. Rooms were very clean, too. It’s only about five minutes from ORD, convenient if you’re traveling with kids, and good value.

The reason we keep coming back is how clean and well cared for the lobby and rooms are. We’ve stayed several times while my nephew was having major surgeries at Northwestern in Chicago. The hotel is right off the highway, with plenty of places to eat nearby and a Target across the street. The front desk woman, I believe her name is Bella, was especially kind. She asked why we were in town, and when I had to extend our stay and checked back in, she remembered me and asked how things were going at the hospital. It meant a lot that someone who sees so many people each day remembered and showed real concern for my nephew. She’s a wonderful asset to this location.

I needed to make a quick trip to ORD for family matters, and the airport was an easy five-minute drive away. There’s no shuttle, though. The staff were very good, and I liked having a larger lobby where you can sit for a while, with places to eat across the street. I’m becoming a fan of Avid for short stays when I don’t need extra amenities. The rooms are small but enough for what I need, and breakfast was about on par with the Holiday inn express.

We’ll definitely come back on another Chicago trip. The hotel was clean and nice, the bedrooms were quiet, and I loved the bathrooms. It’s a decent location, especially with the Economy F parking lot only about eight minutes away, which made getting to the airport terminals easy. Breakfast was wonderful, too. This was my first time at an avid hotel, and Aiman really stood out. Another guest was being helped, and although I didn’t mind waiting, she went out of her way to get my check-in started. She was personable and asked about my day. The rest of the staff were super friendly as well.
