The view was the one good part. The apartment was just okay, with broken light remotes on the wall and bottom outlets that didn’t work. Half the patio furniture cushions were missing, and the ones there were pretty gross. One bathroom sink had no plug, and whatever was down the drain was disgusting. The lobby smelled like garbage on several occasions, as if the cleaning crew were mopping with dirty water. Only one of the two elevators worked, which was a major inconvenience. It was our first year at this complex, and we won’t be back. Not a good experience.
We’ve been coming for six years, but this year was a letdown after how much we enjoyed our stay last year. We had a different unit, and it was very dated and dirty. The common areas were full of trash, and the property seemed neglected, from rusty patio furniture and water-damaged ceilings to old, dirty appliances. Beach service also wasn’t available between noon and 2, so we couldn’t get chairs set up then. What happened to this place? What a decline.
This used to feel like a blessing, and I’ve been coming for years, but right now I’d rate it a 2. The building seems to get less maintenance each year. It looks like the rooms have separate owners, and the areas outside them are short on funds and attention to detail. It feels as though profit is taking priority over service. One elevator has been out for the second year in a row, and last year there was a rat infestation in a room. Prices have gone up over the years while service has declined. Algae built up where you wash your feet on the boardwalk and caused my cousin to sprain a foot, which is not what you want on vacation. Aside from those problems, the setup is ideal, with the pool, boardwalk, and balconies so close to the beach. It’s a good place that could be great with better service and maintenance.
You’re right by the beach, and the view is great.
We hated Destin, FL. There’s no public beach access because the whole place is private property, which makes fishing here impossible. The seafood restaurants were expensive and disappointing. They seem more interested in overcharging people for questionable seafood.
