STAY AWAY. BLACK MOLD! We drove all the way from MN with a small child who has a severe mold allergy, and arrived to a place that looked pristine in the pictures but was disgusting in person. We spoke with three managers and asked to move to another unit. None would help, even though the parking lot was two-thirds empty and there were plenty of other units. They left us with no option but to stay exposed to black mold, including our child. These seem like very old buildings with newer kitchens and floors that make them look clean. I suspect the units may all have mold, since nobody even tried to move us. Housekeeping also needed work: sticky stains on the tables, dirty furniture, and fans covered in dust. They’d put in new AC filters, but maintenance hadn’t flagged the black mold, which you can see right away when you remove the filter. Maybe someone reported it and nobody cared. We ended up going to a hotel for the night and will look for another vacation condo. Even after being inside briefly, we all developed headaches and still had throat irritation, despite rinsing our sinuses almost right away. I hope your vacation gets off to a better start.
Getting to the beach from Villa 15B was an easy walk of less than five minutes, which was a major selling point for me. It’s right across from the pedestrian tunnel under Scenic 98, and the pool is close, clean, and inviting, with restrooms, plenty of chairs, and loungers. There’s also a nice trail along the lake. The lake views are lovely day and night, and sunsets looked even better from the villa’s deck than from the beach. We had two adults and two teens on this girls trip, and the place worked perfectly. Everything was clean and working. The kitchen was a pleasure to use, with beautiful countertops, new appliances, and all the equipment we needed. The bunk room suited the teens, who each had their own wall-mounted TV. The bright master bedroom had a comfortable king bed, a large closet with shelves, and porch access. There was plenty of storage and outlets throughout. The pullout couch was surprisingly comfortable, whether we were sleeping on it or watching movies on the big wall TV. Digital entry was convenient, and there were always parking spots right in front. We didn’t use the charcoal grills, but saw people using them, so they’d be handy for meals. I’m looking forward to renting 15B again. With the lake on one side and easy beach access on the other, it’s a real jewel. 15A has the same layout and connects inside, which could be great for a larger group needing more space.
I just needed a legit place to park and get in the ocean. The beach is great, squeezed between the tall oceanside villas with their multi-level decks. It was winter, though. The water felt refreshing!
This is our home away from home. We’re back for our fourth year during Memorial week, and still think it’s the best location in Destin. It’s also one of the more expensive areas, but worth every penny. Our villa has both an ocean view and a perfect lake view. The pool and surroundings are clean, and they don’t allow any BS here. Take that down to PCB 🤣🤣
Beautiful area, with cute condos just across from a public beach and a lake behind the porch.
