Our unit, 411, feels like a home away from home. The light beach colors, comfortable bedding, and roomy layout make it easy to stay for a week or even several months. The complex is spotless, the grounds and pool are kept in top shape, and there are fun, friendly activities year-round. Five stars for The Islander, no disappointments.
We first stayed at The Islander for 4 weeks, and now we come for 10. Over the last 6-7 years, it's become a place with a real community, since many of the same people return every year. There are optional activities, and the heated pool is a lovely place to gather. The east view condos look straight out over the ocean, and it's easy to get from the condos to the beautiful white sand beach. The rental costs compare very well with other communities we've considered, and the tiered pricing gives renters choices. Staff have been pleasant, helpful, and quick to respond when we've had questions or needed something. We highly recommend The Islander and have already booked for next year.
The quiet, peaceful atmosphere and great location are why our family keeps returning to The Islander. Everyone on staff has been friendly and helpful, and the beach attendant was especially welcoming and attentive, making sure we were comfortable with our spot. It's still one of our favorite places, and we always look forward to coming back.
Unit 516 has a relaxing beach feel, lovely decor, and breathtaking sunset views. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and everything we needed to cook. Having a high chair and pack-and-play in the condo made traveling with our toddler much easier. Smart TVs in the bedrooms and living room kept everyone happy with their favorite shows on rainy days and in the evenings. We loved having the complimentary beach setup with two chairs and an umbrella, so we didn't have to haul our own down to the private beach. Islander staff were friendly and helpful from check-in through checkout. We had a wonderful visit and look forward to coming back.
We've been spending spring break at The Islander for the last four years, and returned to Destin in March 2026 for another amazing stay in unit 612. The condo is fully updated, with a breathtaking view of both the pool and Gulf. The Islander remains clean and family-friendly, and we can see it being a wonderful place to stay with our family for years to come.
