Chateau La Mar 10E Destin had one thing going for it: the nearby beach was as expected. The promised two chairs and an umbrella were easy to get, and the instructions for the house, pool, and beach were clear and detailed. The condo itself looked nothing like the appealing online photos. Toilets, bathtubs, and bed frames were outdated and made the place uncomfortable. The bathroom vents didn't work, and neither did the master bedroom light fixture. The interior needs a major renovation. Motel 6 would have suited us better.

The tennis courts are in great shape and there are lots of them. The pool worked, stayed warm, and was open late. I stayed in a beautiful room, though the porch could use an update. I did find a dead crab in a bucket of water, but oh well. It's a nice, beautiful place. I spent three days at Sandestin before coming here, and you can save more by staying here and renting a golf kart.

Really nice and well stocked with almost everything. They leave a few sample supplies to start you off, which is great, but bring your own toilet paper, laundry detergent, and hand soap.

We had a nice, clean room and they did a great job with it. Getting to the beach is simple, just cross the road.

This was our second stay at Chateau LA Mer, and we plan to come back. Last year my mother and father inlaw joined us in a two-bedroom unit and loved it. This time my sister inlaw and her husband came along too, and Shore Dreams had the unit we needed. Everything was perfect, except it got a little warm at night while we were all sleeping. That was a minor issue in the grand scheme.
