We loved having coffee on the balcony while looking out at the stunning beachfront view. Silver Beach Towers West in Destin was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with comfortable beds and a kitchen that had everything we needed. The private beach access was a big plus, and the pools and hot tubs were clean and never too crowded. Restaurants, shopping, and activities are close by. Everything went smoothly and felt relaxing. We’d happily book again and recommend it to anyone visiting Destin.
The pictures made the building look beautiful, but we had serious problems in unit 903W in West Tower and won’t be back. Every night, the walls buzzed like a loud jackhammer, even with the AC off, and nobody in our family slept well. The freezer also made a foghorn-like noise at random throughout the night, possibly because of something wrong with the coolant or icemaker. The third bedroom next to the kitchen was too noisy to use. We complained to management several times, but they couldn’t fix it during our stay. They brought portable fans/AC units, which only added more noise. My husband took videos to show how loud it was. They need to spend money upgrading the electrical inside or between the units. This was a terrible inconvenience, especially with young kids, and in humid Florida it’s nearly impossible to sleep at night without central air-conditioning. Beware of the HVAC and appliance quality in some condos.
We loved it and can’t wait to book our next trip here. The location is hard to beat, with the beach right outside and easy access to everything. Parking was simple, we could park up front, and there were always spaces. The elevators were quick, with no waiting. After hours, maintenance quickly dealt with noisy guests upstairs. When our microwave broke, they replaced it quickly, which was good because our family uses it a lot. It’s expensive, but we felt it was worth it. A few things could be better: more luggage carts, a wading pool or shallow section for little kids, and permission to set up the small baby tent we bought for the beach. We didn’t realize only their paid beach chairs and umbrellas were allowed.
The beach is beautiful, the location is great, the rooms are nicely furnished, and it’s fairly quiet. Just be prepared to handle things yourself. Apart from the guy who sets up the chairs and umbrellas, you’re unlikely to come across anyone who can help. If you know that going in, you’ll have a great visit.
The ocean was just steps from the beautiful, clean condo, and there were places to eat and things to do within walking distance. Other attractions were a short drive away. The entrance is at a red light, and the elevators were quick with hardly anyone in them, even during Memorial week. The pool was clean, though it got kind of funky by nighttime from all the use. I didn’t like that we couldn’t bring our own umbrella, but that seems to be a Destin thing. The smoke detector was the scary part. It went off around our second day but stopped almost right away. A few nights later, at about 12:30 am, it went off again and kept sounding. We had grabbed our purses and were about to start down all those flights of stairs when it stopped. When we called the people in charge, they just said, "It happens sometimes." No, it doesn’t, and it shouldn’t, because people might not react when there’s a real emergency. Someone came the next day to check the expiration dates, but nothing was done. That’s not something you want happening on a relaxing vacation.
