My newly remodeled 4th floor room was clean, classy, and functional, with a balcony facing the lake. The windy weather brought white caps, and the lake surface changed color when the sun came out. By morning the wind had died down, and beautiful white pelicans were swimming there. The hotel pool area has a hot tub, a nice way to unwind after a long drive from the north. Staff at the hotel and in the dining room were excellent. Breakfast was included in the room rate, though the buffet wasn’t inspiring. I let the front desk know at checkout that the room fridge wasn’t working, so I used ice from the hotel machine to chill bottled water. The location is convenient for restaurants, a gas station, fun activities, and a giant troll. The Holiday Inn has the best view of any hotel in the area. Ask for a lake view rather than one facing the indoor pool. If you have children, though, the poolside rooms might be a good fit since they’re near a game room in the hotel.

I haven’t stayed overnight since I live in town, but I’ve had several birthday parties in the pool area and each visit has been pleasant. The pool was clean and properly maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I also ate at the restaurant recently, and the food was delicious. The bar staff were amazing too. I’d be happy to come back.

We stopped here for one night on a road trip, and the place was pretty awesome, better than I expected. The restaurant food was really good, the beds were comfy, and the rooms were clean. I’d definitely stay again.

We loved our lakeside room and had a great stay at Holiday Inn Detroit Lakes. The staff were wonderful from check-in onward. Dylan and Doug at the front desk were friendly and helpful, and Tiffany at the bar was exceptional. “Grasshopper anyone”? We’ll definitely come back!

The location is convenient and the amenities are nice, but the noise makes it hard to enjoy any of that. I keep checking my door to make sure it’s shut because I can hear so much from the hallway and outside. The all-night campus party atmosphere ruins the stay. If you want a relaxing vacation, this hotel isn’t for you.
