The big kitchen made the place feel like home, and my kid played soccer in the backyard and spotted large eggplants growing in a nearby garden. We walked along Michigan ave all the way downtown, about 1.4 miles, since we hadn't rented bikes. I wondered why there was no drinking water, and Derick told me the tap water was safe to drink. It's in a quiet, natural neighborhood, and the painted house is distinctive enough to find easily. They'd said they'd send a code within 24 hours, but I don't check email while traveling, so I knocked. The front desk guy was only about two steps away and opened the door. The first floor has a kitchen, living room coffee corner, tool room, and two spacious bathrooms. Guests stay upstairs, so there was no noise from above. My private room had two bunk beds and shared a suite and bathroom with two other rooms. Another suite had more roommates but its own kitchen. The room was just enough for what I paid. Morning sun came into the room, and the moon view from the east-facing patio was spectacular. You can get lots of Insta-level photos there. It made for an easy, laid-back stay.

It feels like you're inside a work of art, walking through a creative mind. The way everything is deliberately brought together gives you this sense of wonder. And when you're walking around in wonder, it's like being among the stars 🤪💜🫶

We came with a school trip, and the whole group enjoyed this really unique place. It's central to plenty of attractions and easy to get around midtown and downtown. The bathrooms were a bit meh, but the staff are friendly and it has a homey feel.

I'm a former Detroiter, and this hostel is tucked into one of my favorite parts of the city. Our private room was extremely clean, with a shared bathroom, and the whole stay was the smoothest and most comfortable hostel experience I've had. The price was affordable, and we'll stay again next time we're in Detroit. They offer bike rental, which is handy. Detroit is a relaxed, safe place to bike, so take advantage. You can tell the place is run with a lot of care.

A chill, relaxing place with room for plenty of guests in shared rooms. They have soft blankets, free laundry, and free tourism guides. The customer service is superb, and it's a great spot to make good memories ⭐️
