Mint House Detroit Brush Park

We never felt unsafe in apartment 2C, where we stayed the first week of November 2023. The neighborhood was great, near downtown and museums, and Little Caesars Arena was walkable. The apartment itself was spacious and comfortable, and having on-site parking behind the building was a plus. Sleep was difficult, though. There was no sound insulation between units, and the hard floors carried every upstairs noise: footsteps, scraping chairs, laughter, even dropped hairbrushes. Mint chose the look over practicality here; carpeting the upstairs apartments or adding sound insulation would make stays more pleasant. The advertised blackout shade or curtain wasn’t in the bedroom, so it was too bright to sleep well. There was also no metal bracket on the door frame for the deadbolt, and the WiFi was unreliable. Streaming on the TV gave us repeated trouble, though speeds were fast when the connection worked. One other annoyance: just tell guests the real nightly price upfront. Advertising one rate and then adding fees that push the cost way up isn’t acceptable in 2023. The only reasonable exceptions are state or local taxes and similar charges that the property doesn’t keep.
