The front desk staff were nice, and there were no bugs or cockroaches, which was reassuring after reading about them in other reviews. We also got clean towels when we asked, since the ones in our room were dirty. But the room was a mess: hair and dirt in the hot tub, hair in the shower, and a poop stain in the toilet. I cleaned the tub myself. It filled through a tiny sink hose and took about two hours. We paid extra for a more expensive room that was supposed to have a fridge and microwave, but neither was there. The people next door were extremely loud all day and night. The pool was warm and nice, though we didn't stay long because people were vaping there and I'm pregnant. The building says no smoking, with signs everywhere, but there was smoke around, and even the woman at the desk was smoking.

The manager, Arnaldo, was excellent, professional, and very helpful. I hope they appreciate him and keep him. The location is convenient, but the second floor smelled like a cat, and my room had a smoky odor despite the non-smoking signs. It didn't smell fresh or clean.

People were staying here while trying to find apartments, and I couldn't tell whether the hotel was also operating as a shelter. Kids sat on the hallway floor eating and watching videos, with a lot of noise and commotion on the third floor. Staff could see what was happening on the security monitors but didn't address it, which was ridiculous. The bathroom toilet was disgusting. I also saw roaches crawling on the walls and in the bed while I was lying down, apparently coming from the carpet corners and edges.

For what I paid, this place should have been about $45-50 a night. I paid around 65, then stayed at a Motel 6 in Wilkes Barre the next night for $10 less and found it considerably better on most fronts. This hotel technically meets the minimum bar to stay open, and someone might find it worth booking, but my experience was below average even compared with other budget hotels I've used. The internet kept cutting out every five minutes in my second-floor room, and on my phone I kept switching between the hotel Wi-Fi and mobile data. I tried different fixes and checked my device, but the Wi-Fi was the problem. T-Mobile and Verizon service were poor there too, based on my personal and work phones. The shower pressure was like a garden hose barely turned on, so I had to stand right at the front to get wet. The water got warm but never hot, and the tub paint was peeling badly. It wasn't quiet until around 1-2am. There's a bar behind the hotel that closes at about 10-11pm, and people talked at the door smoking area from opening to closing. Closing staff did the same when they left around midnight-1am. There also seemed to be several people living at the hotel. That's fine, but shared spaces are not your own home. A family seemed to occupy the wing off the desk, and kids or young relatives of an employee were milling around noisily until about 10pm. For a cheap hotel, these problems made the stay noticeably worse.

I'm glad I only had to stay one night. The water smelled strongly of chlorine and made my eyes water. There was hair in the bathtub, and what looked like dead bugs or rodent droppings in several places: where the fridge used to be, under the bed, in the bathroom, and on the window ledges. The hallway floors were stained and didn't look cleaned. Some ceiling tiles were stained, and others were missing. The sheets did seem clean, but if it hadn't been so late, I would have found another hotel. This place needs a serious makeover and some real care. I won't stay here again.
