Mountain Valley Inn Dillard

It was a quiet night, and the shower worked fine: hot water, and the tub drained properly. The rooms were clean, though we weren’t given enough towels. We were told breakfast wouldn’t be up to par, so we skipped it. The room coffee wasn’t good, and there weren’t enough supplies for two cups unless you drink it black. WiFi was slow and kept disconnecting. From the online photos, I thought there’d be a balcony or a place to see the mountains out back, but that’s only available with a specific room.

A cheap room, pretty much what you’d expect, and a handy stop on the way from Florida to GSM National park. The clerks were kind, and the window view was nice. There’s no elevator.

On our third visit in nine years, we were disappointed. I’d booked a handicap room, but was told it wasn’t available because a long-term resident was using it. Pets supposedly aren’t allowed, yet that same resident had a dog that wandered around. They also sat outside smoking and filled the whole area with smoke. The man at the desk was rude when I asked for clean towels and extra coffee with cream for our room that evening. It shouldn’t matter that we’d asked not to be disturbed during cleaning. I just wanted clean towels, and I didn’t want to get dressed and go to the office for another cup of coffee. Someone later came by to apologize for his attitude, along with an excuse. Keep both. We won’t be back.

We were glad to have a downstairs room where we could park right in front. The place was easy to find despite the construction, and mostly quiet. One night, a mom and what sounded like an eight-year-old stomped and made noise above us, but thankfully that was just one of our three nights. The cable had a problem, though it wasn’t the owners’ fault. The owner wants Fiber, but it isn’t available yet.
