Dillon Beach Resort

Our cottage had a very comfortable Tuft & Needle mattress, and the kitchen and bathroom were well stocked. I could have used more than two pillows, though. The sleeping loft is low, with stairs that are truly steep. I managed them, but as an older woman I found them challenging, so next time I’d ask for a cottage with a downstairs bedroom. It was a peaceful spot for our girls’ getaway, with lovely scenery and an easy walk to the beach. The room was clean and nicely decorated, and getting checked in was simple. We were even let in at 3 PM, an hour before the official 4 PM check-in. The on-site restaurant was convenient and reasonably priced. The small store is useful too, though water and drinks are a bit pricey, so plan ahead.

We spent plenty of lazy hours playing games at the picnic tables, and it was great that our pets could come along. There are rinse-off stations, a potty area, and a broom in the room for cleaning up sand and fuzzies. This is our second visit, and we’re already looking forward to the third. The cottages make a perfect little getaway. We like making a few small meals in the room and grabbing at least one bowl of chowder from the restaurant.

The bedrooms were so bright that it was hard to sleep, so I really hope they add blackout shades. Also, our room was ready at 2 PM, but nobody was in the office, and no one answered or returned my call. We still had to wait until 4 to check in. The cabins are beautiful and nicely appointed, and the beach is amazing and easy to reach on foot. The general store was packed with great quality local and organic items. I just wish it opened before 8 AM so we could get breakfast and coffee.

The cottage was darling, and the view was hard to beat. Everything else about our stay was perfect, but the pullout couch was impossible to sleep on. My friend and I had to switch off so each of us could get one good night’s sleep. Its mattress is so thin that you can feel the boards underneath. At the room price, the beds should be comfortable, and I’d really recommend replacing the couch bed.
