There are enjoyable events in the main lobby throughout the month, and you’re within easy walking distance of several food options. The transport depot for buses is about half a mile away. The shared bunk rooms do tend to get very warm, almost warm enough that you don’t need a blanket. Still, it’s always a great stay and a good value for the shared bunks. The private rooms are nice too.

Clean rooms and bathrooms, friendly staff, a well-equipped kitchen with a full stove, hot tub, comfortable bunks with shelves for your things, and an easygoing atmosphere. It’s a cool, affordable weekend base for Denver snowboarders during peak season, under $100, and a good home base for travelers and mountaineers. If you’re a light sleeper, shared rooms can be hit or miss. People were very respectful, but there’s still the usual noise of doors closing, rustling, bumps, and snoring. The room also starts off quite warm. It cooled a little later, but I had to sleep in my underwear with no blanket to cool down, so maybe try a cold shower before bed. I’d definitely return, though I might book a private room next time. Your experience may vary.

It was easy to relax here, with a laid-back atmosphere that made us feel at home. Our huge king room had a balcony and a large bathroom. It’s dog friendly, and a lovely place to meet all kinds of people who enjoy adventure. I’d love to visit again.

We loved the hot tub and its beautiful views of Silverthorne. There were also cozy little common areas where we played games, both ones we brought and ones The Block provided. The spacious, warm common area was a great place to eat the meals we could prepare ourselves, and the full bar there made the evenings especially enjoyable. Staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, and the accommodations were tidy and comfortable, beyond what we expected. It was our first visit, but definitely won’t be the last.
