Days Inn by Wyndham Dothan

We picked this hotel at the last minute so my family and I could wait out a tornado warning. The staff were welcoming and very nice, and let us check in early for a small fee, which I appreciated. The front desk attendant also had a good suggestion for where to order food. The room was clean and had a desk, so I could keep working. There was a small roach in the bathroom, and the TV had no sound. We used our iPads and laptops instead.

They lost our reservation, then tried to charge another deposit after I’d already paid. The first room smelled like weed and had clothes scattered around, as if someone was still there. In the second, there was the same smell and only one bed instead of two. Staff came by and said they’d made a mistake. Room three was disgusting, with roaches and a broken AC and TV, so we left for another hotel. Expedia lists this as five stars, while Google shows 2.7. I wouldn’t stay unless you’re fine with a filthy room and want to spark one up with the locals.

The price looked better than nearby places, but the condition is rough. The floors were so dirty I kept my shoes on, and the lamps didn’t work. The shade was gross and the chair was shredded. There wasn’t enough toilet paper or more than one tiny trash can, and no cleaning supplies to tidy up. The room was meant to be non-smoking, yet smoke came through the ceiling from the first floor, mixed with a moldy smell. Breakfast is advertised for 6-9am, but there isn’t any, and there’s no fitness center either. The hot tub looks like it’s been out of order for ages, and the pool is green. People staying here throw syringes into the tall grass, so watch out if you have kids or pets. Pets are allowed, which is nice, but it costs $25 per night. It didn’t feel very safe, though it wasn’t the worst place I’ve stayed.

Please don’t stay here. The room was filthy, the beds and floors were dirty, and staff seemed untrained and unhelpful. There was no toilet paper or towels, and the toilet leaked and backed up. The TV only worked part of the time, and there was no Wi-Fi. They charge for two days even if you’re there for only three hours. Don’t go to this hotel.
