Fairfield Inn by Marriott Salt Lake City Draper

The room was dated, and the gym equipment wasn't in good shape. The treadmill sloped downhill until I figured out how to raise the platform, it was sticky, and its TV didn't work. Electrical outlets were loose, and I couldn't find one that would charge my devices. I stayed two nights on the first floor. The walls and doors are thin, and the staff didn't patrol the halls at night for safety or quiet. The people next door stayed up until early morning playing loud music and yelling over it.

At 2 a.m. I'm still awake, so I'm writing this to warn people. Stadium lights from the bar next door shine straight into the hotel windows all night. The room only had a sheer panel instead of real curtains, which left it bright and gave us almost no privacy. My child was kept awake all night, and what should have been a restful evening turned into a disaster. I rarely leave bad reviews, but I wouldn't recommend booking here.

The location is nice, the rates are fair, and the rooms are decent with mini fridges. Breakfast is a standard continental one. Some rooms smell a bit, and the beds aren't the most comfortable, but it's still a good stay.

After years of loyalty to Marriott, I was surprised by how badly this stay went. I booked two days in August, then called reservations when my plans changed and shortened it to one day. When I checked in two days later, the reservation still showed two days. That's happened before and was usually easy to fix, but this time it wasn't. I also gave them my personal credit card for the room, but they didn't charge it. I called this week to sort it out and was told it apparently couldn't be fixed. No one seems able to help, and there's been no follow-up. The charge is still on my company card, so now I have to repay my company for two days even though I stayed only one. I don't expect Marriott to resolve it. Everyone drops the ball sometimes, but I'd never had this happen before, and it isn't the service I've come to expect.
