Fairfield Inn & Suites Atlanta Gwinnett Place

Our shower was extremely moldy, which was awful. On top of that, our friend found bed bugs in her room. She had to sleep on our floor because the hotel didn’t have a cot, with a promise she’d get her own room the next night. By morning, all of us were kicked out. Given that the situation was their fault, they showed very little hospitality at every step. Thankfully our customer service agent found us another hotel, a much nicer Residence Inn down the road. At least Marriott has some capable people, because Gwinnett Place sure doesn’t. If you can, stay at the inn down the road through Marriott instead.

I had a good stay here when I visited in October 2024, but my return in Aug 2025 was a different experience. The desk agent was pleasant. Right after checking in, I inspected the room as I usually do and was met with a mildew smell. I went back to ask for another room, but they were full for the holiday weekend, which I understood. What I couldn’t understand was being offered concentrated spray to cover the odor. That made it seem like the property knew about the problem but wasn’t interested in fixing its cause. The agent said they would cancel my reservation if I asked, but a few days later I received a checkout invoice as if I had stayed and the cancellation hadn’t happened. I was told no manager was on duty, and my calls and emails to the property over the following days got no response. It’s a shame, since the location is great.

There were hardly any towels, and the sheets smelled unpleasant. The room also had a musty odor as soon as we walked in. A loose door hinge nearly fell on my husband’s head because screws were missing. We found a hole in the bathroom door and a half-used toilet paper roll left behind. The smoke detector was hanging off the wall with wires exposed, which felt like a serious safety issue. A very disappointing stay, and I hope the hotel fixes these conditions for future guests.

I was here for three nights on a work trip. It was okay overall: the place was clean and quiet, and the AC worked, though it rattled. The TV remote was broken. On my last night, a roach crawled across the desk. I killed it and left it there, then showed the front desk a photo and video at checkout. I only wanted to let them know, but they said they’d ask for compensation for me. I never heard anything from them after that.
