Clarion Hotel Conference Center on Lake Erie

There was a very old extension cord by the bed and not many places to plug in a phone. The room had black mold on the walls, heavy water damage, mouse traps, rust in the tub, and a shower ceiling that looked ready to cave in. The TV didn’t work, and alarms in the next room kept going all night. We arrived exhausted at night to a sign saying “will return shortly.” After waiting about ten minutes, I found a worker near the bar and asked when the front desk would be back. She rudely said, “it’s me what do you need?” When I said we needed to check in, she walked past me toward the desk. This was a one-and-done stay.

The price wasn’t bad, and being right on Lake Erie by the marina made the stay worthwhile. We had perfect weather, watched the sunset on Dunkirk City Pier, and got a drink at 64 On The Pier. The breakfast buffet was good, with hot eggs, sausage patties, bagels, bread, and a waffle maker. The front desk staff were friendly, though we were told, as others have mentioned, that we should have booked direct instead of online. One elevator was being repaired. The hotel could use some updating.

This place has gone downhill a lot. The hotel was dirty, with hair in the refrigerator and a dirty carpet. Our TV didn’t work, so the front desk lady had to come fix it. She looked about 18. There was no pool, and the furniture was old. Never again. Please stay in Jamestown or Buffalo.

The staff were outstanding during my stay, but I found cockroaches in my room. A couple of months later, a friend stayed and got bed bugs, so beware.
