Dunmore Inn

A fairly clean, quiet roadside motel where you pay, sleep, and get back on the road, just like in the movies. It's a handy spot for travelers heading north from NYC after roughly three hours of driving.

The shower was so tiny that my arms hit both walls when I washed my hair. We only learned after renting the room that they have other rooms with larger bathrooms. Also, I couldn't find an ice machine.

The room turned out clean and comfortable, and for the price I'd stay again. We had a reservation for our trip back to Canada and asked them to turn on the heat before we arrived, which they did. It was toasty this time. On our first visit, though, we were shocked to find how cold the room was. It took a while to warm up, so in February we went to bed wearing our clothes and jackets, but eventually it heated up and we took the layers off. My friend had booked the place, and neither of us had expected a motel when we drove in. The renovated, up-to-date room was a pleasant surprise.

We were uneasy on the way because, after booking a budget priced room, we read negative reviews about cleanliness, the accommodations, and even bed bugs. Our experience didn't match that. The staff were very friendly, our room was clean, the bed comfortable, and it was quiet. It was a great stay for the price. The room would be family friendly if it were bigger. Don't expect a luxury bathroom: the sink and shower stall are small. We'd definitely stay again.
