AC Hotel Durham

DON'T stay here unless you're comfortable with the cancellation terms. I've stayed many times, most recently two months ago, and used to be able to cancel a day or two before arrival without a charge. Now the policy requires at least 30 days' notice. Cancel 29 days before your stay and they charge the full booking, not one night. You could easily be out $1000. The online booking also pushes Allianz insurance as a way to avoid the fee, but its conditions are VERY strict, so it's no real solution. This policy change seems to have appeared without warning, and they expect guests to accept it. I think it's disgusting and designed to defraud people. DON'T ACCEPT IT!

My company booked this hotel for us on 01/25/2026 because of the blizzard expected in Durham. We were only there a short time, but the staff were friendly and accommodating, and I enjoyed the stay. It's conveniently placed, with restaurants and stores within walking distance along Erwin Rd. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

I've stayed at a lot of AC Hotels as a frequent Marriott guest, so I was surprised by how far below the brand's usual service this property felt. We were two people in the room but started with just three bath towels. After housekeeping came on the third day, there were even fewer, and none were replenished, leaving us short for the rest of the stay. Cleaning was poor too: the room wasn't properly cleaned, and the sink area hadn't been wiped down. Having to chase basic cleanliness and towels is unacceptable at a Marriott hotel. A very disappointing stay, the worst AC Hotel I've experienced.

Weekday staff were great, but the weekend service was awful. The evening front desk guy sat in the lounge on his phone, and the weekend bartender seemed unhappy at work, was hard to find, and was curt with people. As a high-up Marriott Bonvoy member, I was put on the 3rd floor right across from the elevator, where there was noise all day and people running through the halls. The stay was just okay, and I won't be back.
