Residence Inn Durham Research Triangle Park

The property is older, but the staff made the stay feel welcoming. Everyone was gracious, and we were glad we decided to extend our stay. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom suited our needs well. Breakfast had a nice range of hot options, with a different protein each day.

I only stayed one night, and check-in was quick. The room was quiet, and finding out there was a kitchen was a nice surprise. The bathroom was decent, nothing special. I didn't try much of breakfast, but the coffee and biscuits were good.

The location is convenient, but that's about the only good thing I can say. The door lock stuck so badly we had to kick the door to open it. Pulling out the sofa bed revealed a mattress with blood stains. There were people partying loudly in the middle of the night, and marijuana smoke came through the vents. It felt more like a weekend party spot for locals than a place for an extended business or personal stay. Breakfast was bad too, with precooked waffles still raw and fruit so overripe it was attracting flies. This was the worst Marriott property I've stayed at, and I've stayed at many. I won't come back, and corporate should consider closing it.

I've traveled weekly for work for 13 years, to rural and urban places at home and abroad, and this was the worst hotel I've stayed in. The first room seemed okay at first, though it hadn't been updated. Then three cockroaches came out of the dishwasher when I went to get a glass. The next morning, water had flooded the bathroom and soaked the room carpet. I waited at the front desk for 10 minutes to ask for towels so I could shower without stepping in the water, but nobody showed up. I called from my room after going back, still no answer. There was also someone else's hair stuck to the shower walls. They promised me a clean replacement room that evening. That room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The third room looked clean, but someone else's hair was all over the bathroom towels. I don't expect much from hotels, just a clean bed and room. This place is unacceptable.
