Unscripted Durham, Part of JDV by Hyatt

They’ve done an amazing job bringing this hotel back to life, and it has a great seventies feel. I’d call it first rate if they could get the staff in order. At five in the morning I got locked in the parking deck because my card wouldn’t open the door back into the hotel. The front desk clerk was too high to understand what I was saying. He thought I couldn’t get into my room and patiently explained that I could, since I’d entered through the front door. There must be an aerospace college around here, because I was clearly dealing with America’s next wave of rocket scientists.

The beds are extremely comfortable, and the atmosphere feels stylish without being stuffy. Service is reliably superb, with friendly, professional people who really pay attention. Durham Unscripted is my regular choice whenever I’m in Durham. It’s right in the middle of everything, with plenty of good restaurants a short walk away. Between the location, comfort, nearby dining, and service, it delivers every time. I always stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

The staff are what really set this place apart. Every person went out of their way to make the stay special, and I especially appreciate you, Yvette! It’s a cute, modern hotel in a fantastic spot, with lots of shops and restaurants close by. As a Hyatt globalist, I was upgraded to a lovely studio suite, room 409. I’d imagine the other rooms are smaller and more basic.

It’s 12:40 a.m. as I write this. We checked out early and went home because the room was so disgusting. My husband and I found what looked like huge urine stains on the bed. We called for fresh sheets and were told we had to come get them and change the bed ourselves. The replacement set had all kinds of stains too. We left feeling itchy and covered in hives, and were beyond disgusted.
