Hampton Inn Eau Claire

I chose this room largely because it had a pool and hot tub, but both were closed. If that had been disclosed, I wouldn't have stayed. It would've been helpful to have a simple notice on the website saying they were under construction or temporarily closed.

The breakfast is very good. Room cleaning depends on the length of your stay: if you're there two nights, your room won't be cleaned, and for three nights you only get one cleaning. There are lots of posted noise warnings, so it seems noise must've been an issue in the past, and guests have to leave a damage deposit. The notices make the place sound like Led Zeppelin used to stay there, stay up all night smashing guitars, and trash the room. One design flaw is the toilets, which are about six inches off the ground. I've never seen that at another hotel. When you sit down, your knees are practically at your chin. It's awkward and uncomfortable.

Everything was great. The pool and hot tub were both working well, and it looks like they've done some renovations since the earlier photos.

The room was clean and comfortable, but the service is what stood out. Even with middle school hockey teams at the hotel, Kyle worked hard to keep things peaceful and quiet in the evening. Then at 6 am I urgently needed copies of documents for a work meeting. The teams were busy having breakfast, but Kyle went above and beyond to troubleshoot with me and get the documents in excellent order. Thank you, Kyle!
