We came into town briefly for a family event and had a great stay. It felt like being at our aunt and uncle's house. We love old places, history, and antiques, and this hotel has all of that, along with a cozy, lived-in feel. It's also the proprietor's residence. This is an old building that hasn't been gutted for a renovation, and that authenticity is exactly what we liked. The antiques can make it look a little dusty, like they can in my own home. The bed was comfortable, the towels were good quality, the Wi-Fi worked fine, and there were plenty of outlets. There were books to read and a sunny indoor porch to sit on. Breakfast was wonderful: hot tea or coffee, juice, a fresh fruit cup, apple and cream cheese stuffed French toast, and a sausage patty, served at a beautifully set table. We were told the meal changes daily, and the cook was very gracious. The location is right in town, within walking distance of several local eateries and convenient to the court house. We were glad to find ample parking on the property, since the surrounding area is hilly and/or metered. A few downsides for some people: the bathroom was small, breakfast was only served at 8:30, there was no menu to choose from, and the hotel doesn't have a 24/7 desk. Voicemail worked, though. This won't suit you if you want standard hotel accommodations, but we would definitely stay again. We booked through the hotel's website on hotelsone.com, which isn't listed on the google map site, and had no trouble.

We never even got to a room. The man at first seemed nice, but then got very mean and aggressive, pounding his fists on the counter and telling us to go somewhere else because he was offended. We left. As we were going, he changed his attitude and offered to show us a room. It seemed like he was too disorganized to get us checked in and got defensive instead. It was incredibly unprofessional, and I don't understand how this place has such a high rating. He seemed clueless and shouldn't be involved in the business anymore. We'd called the hotel at least five times between 10am and 2pm on check-in day, since check-in was at 2, but no one answered. The man didn't arrive until 2:15. We had made the reservation through Expedia two weeks earlier, as we'd been told to do when we called to book, but he said he had no record of it. He took our information, but couldn't say whether he'd have a room with everyone else staying there. When he said he'd charge the card, we asked to see the room first and make sure it suited us and was clean. He asked why, and we explained again. He went to the back, came out upset that we'd asked and thought we were suggesting the place wasn't clean. We hadn't meant it that way, though it actually was very dirty: newspapers and overflowing piles of papers on the counter, dusty dishes on a table, and two abandoned cars in the parking lot that hadn't moved since 2016, despite already very limited parking. The place was unkept and untidy. We didn't give him attitude and had already been concerned when he couldn't find our reservation. DO NOT GO HERE.

I grew up in Cambria County, then moved away 20 years ago. When we returned for a family visit June 30-July 2, we chose this place over the Comfort Inn, and I'm so glad we did. It's such a cool, historic building, and a fantastic, unique place. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. If you're after something beyond a mainstream chain hotel, this is it. The breakfast was the best I've had in a VERY LONG time, and the owners were friendly and considerate. I'll absolutely stay here on every visit back home.

The older man hosting us was kind and very nice, and the breakfast staff were great. It's well located for local eateries and not far from some awesome attractions. A couple of small issues: the AC struggled to keep up with this summer's heat, and the TV was old and didn't work. With Wi-Fi and smartphones, though, it wasn't a big deal.

The owner was sweet, kind, and knew a lot about the history of the place and area. Hospitality was outstanding, and breakfast was delicious. Our room was clean and cozy, with a terrific, comfortable bed. The location is perfect, close to everything. Like other reviews have said, the old-fashioned charm and style feel like stepping back in time. A very nice bed and breakfast for the price. We'd stay again, and highly recommend it!
