Travelodge by Wyndham El Centro

The hot breakfast was a little better than the usual hotel offering, though there’s a small charge for each person beyond the first two in your group. Staff weren’t unfriendly, but I wasn’t impressed overall. We may just have had a bad room, since I chose this place over nearby options based on the glowing reviews. Ours was basic and not especially clean, and being near the bar and laundry meant a lot of noise through the walls at night. There wasn’t much within comfortable walking distance, and we didn’t feel safe walking past the nearby buildings to Denny’s at night. It got the job done for the price, but I expected more from the reviews and would try somewhere else if I stayed in town again.

The bathroom was very clean, and the room and linens were clean too. For the price it wasn’t bad, but after I’d gotten into bed I felt something crawling on me. I turned on the light and found a bed bug. I’d never experienced that before, and afterward I felt itchy all over and couldn’t sleep. The carpet had been vacuumed, but looked like it needed shampooing.

We had four people in the room and had enough space and everything we needed. The TV was a decent size, with a reasonable channel selection, and there was free Wi-Fi. The AC did a very good job of keeping us cool. Beds were average, not the most comfortable, but we all slept well. The room was clean.

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, and for the price this place was a great fit even though it’s nothing fancy. We didn’t stay for breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. I was happy with the stay and would come back without hesitation.
