Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, El Dorado, AR

The kitchen staff and breakfast were great, but the rest of our stay was a mess. The front desk woman was rude and unprofessional from the start. The AC didn’t work in the first room, and half the lights were out. I couldn’t get a refund or cancel either night. In the second room, the AC had to be set to 60 to cool it down, half the lights worked, the toilet seat was broken, and there were crumbs by the bed. The door latch wouldn’t open all the way, so the door jammed whenever we tried to leave. I called several times but couldn’t reach the manager, so I contacted Choice hotels. They gave us some points for the trouble and suggested I still speak with the manager and email the district manager. I finally reached the manager, but she wouldn’t talk to me because I’d contacted Choice. I’ve emailed the district manager twice and still haven’t heard back. I’m writing this review a week after our stay.

We were here for a family reunion, and it was disappointing for the price, especially compared with nearby hotels. We couldn’t use the pool for most of the stay, which let the kids down. The rooms also need newer furniture, and all the bed linen should be replaced. The staff were fairly friendly and the continental breakfast was okay, but food choices seemed limited. The rooms didn’t feel clean either. We asked to have the linens changed on both beds because of stains. When housekeeping brought replacements, they said most of the linen was stained but still clean.

The front desk ladies were awesome, super friendly, and made check-in easy. The room was spacious, the shower had plenty of hot water and great pressure, and breakfast was good. They had waffles to make yourself, plus cereal, pastries, biscuits and gravy, sausage, and eggs. We’ll stay again. The place needs updating, with old carpet and furniture. The curtains wouldn’t close, only the clear gauzy ones did, so there was no way to keep the morning sun out. The bed was too firm for us, though the pillows were soft and fluffy.

Great location. We needed a room at the last minute after problems with our previous lodging, and the man who answered the phone was really sweet and helpful. He booked a room for our family of five for the dates we needed. The hotel was nice and clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms are a little outdated, but the bathroom was nice and the AC worked great.
