A truck started up outside my door and filled the room with exhaust fumes. The air unit was filthy, with black specks all over it, and the toilet barely flushed, with a plunger sitting beside it. There were hairs everywhere, the floors were dirty, and the towels had a blackish cast despite being white. The sheets and blankets were stained, the pillows were awful and lumpy, the mattress cover was ripped, and the mattress had pee stains. I also saw live German roaches, as pictured. Charming stay, right? I left the room cleaner than I found it. Two hand towels turned black and brown after I cleaned the air unit and the ceiling fan pull cord. I've traveled on a budget dozens of times, so I bring a box with my own bedding, towels, cleaning spray, shower sandals, and other comfort items to cope with places like this. If you don't pack those things, good luck getting comfortable in these nasty cheap hotels. It's rare that they actually care about cleanliness.

The garbage truck came between 6 and 6:30 a.m. I wouldn't recommend this place because of the rude staff, questionable cleanliness, and fees that weren't honored. Booking told me on the phone that the dog fee would be $12. When I arrived, the manager demanded $25 cash. Since the room couldn't be refunded, I felt stuck. I had to ask three times for a receipt. Later, when he came to clean the toilet, he said the second dog would cost another $25, cash of course. He offered to take $20, but wouldn't give a receipt. Single women, beware.

On a recent storm chasing trip, I booked by phone just a few hours before arriving, and the reservation was quick and easy. The staff were extremely pleasant. The rooms were clean and quiet, though maybe not quite Holiday Inn quality. I'll definitely stop here again if we're back in the area.

The air conditioning worked well, and the room smelled OK, but it wasn't clean, especially the bathroom. The tub had hair all over it, like someone shaved and left it there, and the shower walls were dirty. There was no coffee pot in the room. The sheets had lipstick smudges and other dark marks, and the comforter looked like it had mildewed at some point. I don't mind an older or dated room, but I do expect clean, unstained bedding, and that shower wasn't acceptable at all. It's simple lodging close to two places to eat, and the owner who helped in the main office was nice. The price was very affordable, so I'm sharing these details because other people would want to know.
